Things To Do After School
There is a wealth of things to do on your own or in the company of other students in Cape Town during the afternoons or early evenings after class.
- The World of Birds is a taxi ride away in beautiful Hout Bay.
- Within walking distance from the school is the Platinum Mile
stretching from Camps Bay to Clifton.
- Relax or play on some of the best beaches in the world.
- A short bus ride takes you to the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront where,
amongst other things, you can take the ferry to Robben Island where former President Nelson Mandela was held for 27 years.
- Transport to Canal Walk, the biggest shopping center in the Southern Hemisphere,is easily accessible.
- Next door is the Ratanga Junction theme park with loads exhilarating rides.
- A Rikki will take you to the lower cable station and the cable car will takeyou up to the top of Table Mountain,with its breathtaking views.(Or you can walk up Platterklip Gorge and come down by cable car)
In the City itself there are:
- Museums, art galleries, street markets, African markets, historical buildings, cathedrals, mosques, and synagogues as well as a planetarium.
- You can browse up and down Long Street, visit the Company Gardens,
(feed the squirrels).
- Have tea at the Mount Nelson Hotel or just enjoy being in a wonderful cosmopolitan city with Table Mountain as your stunning backdrop.
Night Life
The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, open 7 days a week, is a great place to spend the evening or weekend. Apart from shopping in excellent stores, a variety of entertainment is on offer there.
- Relax in one of the restaurants or pubs situated on the waters' edge
- Listen to a variety of live music
- Attend open-air concerts
- Explore the wine shop
- Look through some of the countless museums and exhibitions
- Take a sunset cruise around the harbour
- Admire the colony of enormous seals
- Discover The 'Old Clock Tower' which is situated at the Nelson Mandela
Gateway, a new shopping complex.- Shopping doesn't get much better than at the Waterfront

- Long Street, in the city, has a collection of restaurants, small pubs, clubs and Internet cafés.
- The Mexican Kitchen is one of our favourite eating-places and Mr Pickwick's Eating Deli is popular amongst the locals.
- We recommend Kennedy's' Cigar Bar for live jazz. There are also African music and techno/R&B clubs. You can play pool at Stones.
- Long Street has numerous backpacker lodges and is a great place to meet other travellers.

A Historical tour of the city which includes a trip up Table Mountain.

A Township tour introduces you to people of different cultures and enables you to take part in their activities
The Whale Tour (July - September) can include cycling along the cliffs
of Hermanus. Look down on the Southern Right whales in the bay.
A day spent traveling along one of the many wine routes can include a visit to historical Stellenbosch, as well as sumptuous lunch.
Cape Point Nature Reserve is at the tip of the peninsula. Travel by coach and either walk or cycle through the fynbos to the point where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet. Visit the penguins at Boulders Beach near Simonstown.

Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, in the southern suburbs of Cape Town, has over 5000 different plant species. It is a good place to start a walk up Table Mountain. In Summer, Kirstenbosch Gardens hosts evening concerts (take your own picnic).

Activities In And Around Cape Town
Interlink will help you organize activities or sports during your stay. The following are some of the things that you can do while you are here:
Surfing
There are popular surf shops in Muizenburg and Bloubergstrand. Both hire out surfboards and windsurfers. They also give lessons (car necessary).
Horse-riding
You can go horse-riding either in Hout Bay - a taxi ride away or in Noordhoek where you can ride along miles of white beaches.
Scuba-diving
There is a diving centre in Seapoint.
Bunji Jumping
We have the highest jump in the world. You will need a weekend to travel to the Bloukrans Bridge.

Abseiling, Mountain Biking, Quad Biking, paragliding, sky diving, abseiling, diving with the sharks, tennis, golf, volley ball.
Cape Town boasts some of the best beaches in the world and we have the climate to enjoy them.

Longer
Tours
Interlink can arrange longer tours either before or after your English course.
A 4-day camping and lodge safari to the Kruger National Park and Private Game Reserve is highly recommended.
The road up the Garden Route travels along the coastline for much of
the way. This area has beautiful little villages, rivers and beaches
for swimming and sunbathing. There are forests and lakes perfect for
hiking and boating.
At Bloukrans, you will find the highest bunji jump in the world.
An overland trip to Victoria Falls can include relaxing at the foot of the
Cederberg Mountains, camping on the banks of South Africa's longest
river the Orange, hiking in the Fish River Canyon and searching for
wildlife in Etosha.
More sightseeing in Windhoek, (the capital of Namibia) as well as exploring
the Okavango Delta in Botswana and finally ending at the spectacular
Falls.
Tours can also be arranged to neighbouring countries such as Lesotho
or Swaziland.
